Brit Week

Brit Week
Brit week (which runs in Los Angeles from April 21st to May 4th) is dedicated to celebrating the relationship between the US and Great Britain. This event also takes place in San Francisco, Orange County and Miami. A couple of our favorite art items -that are Brit week appropriate- from Etsy are above. Links to the lovely artists and their Etsy pages are below.

And keeping in theme...let's make some scones & strawberry jam!
I used the scone and strawberry jam recipes from this lovely book. This tea party book is perfect for creating, planning and hosting an appropriate British tea party. For the scones; instead of milk, I used honey Noosa yogurt...amazing! This website helped me with conversions. This website helped me determine oven temperature. How cute are the mushroom measuring spoons? While no longer available, Anthropologie has others.

feathers for the home

feathers!
feathers!

1 ** 2 ** 3 ** 4 ** 5 ** 6
We love all the feather art on Etsy right now.

The paintings (1, 2, 3, 6) can adorn the walls in any room of your home.
The stained glass feathers (4) can hang from a kitchen window, cascading colors throughout the room on a sunny day.
The actual feathers (5) can hang parallel to each other in a library nook or above a desk.

Some clever ways to display/hang paintings can be found here.

thursday's thoughts

Some weeks can be hard to deal with...days we feel sad, helpless, disappointed and overwhelmed. Our first installment of "Thursday's Thoughts" are some things that make us feel better, and put a smile on our face, during these times. We wanted to share them with you.

for the blog

1. "...[you have] a face that gives the moon something worth shining on." - Morgan Freeman in The Magic of Belle Isle.

2. The short film, La Luna, is darling! Watch it here.

3. Blogging here at Sister Style. We love it. Thank you for supporting our little corner of the internet.

4. Tips to set goals (and not feel overwhelmed)! Video here.

5. Advice from a single guy (who interviewed couples for a year)..."don't be afraid to be the one who loves the most." Find the article here.
